BULGARIA
Star of Hope Foundation, a home for women with mental health needs, requested assistance when they faced a shortage of heating, beds, warm clothes, and shoes.
Two Small Fishes is inspired by the New Testament story about the "feeding of the five thousand." There were 5,000 hungry people and not enough food, but there was a boy with five loaves of bread and two small fishes (John 6:5-13). Jesus blessed the loaves and fishes, and the crowds were fed. It is still possible for God to make enough out of very little.
Two Small Fishes is a modest charitable enterprise. Its goal is not to raise large amounts of money. Rather, the goal is to take what may not seem to be very much and use it effectively to meet the needs of people in poverty.
Tax-exempt status
Two Small Fishes, launched in 1999, has no salaried positions. The Board of Directors covers all administrative costs, allowing 100% of donations to go to the targeted project. Two Small Fishes is incorporated under the Minnesota Nonprofit Corporations Act (Chapter 317A). It has tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
We're ordinary people who have made travel a priority and, in the process, have collected friends from all over the globe. (As it turns out, they're just like us.) When we come home to Minnesota, we appreciate it anew. Even in our home state there are places to go, things to do and people to meet. So here we go!
